AHS Advanced Placement Program
AHS is proud to offer six Advanced Placement courses for the 2012-2013 school year (Psychology, English Language and Composition, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics B, and Calculus AB).  Advanced Placement or AP is college level courses taught in our high school by our faculty.  Taking AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you will need to be successful at the college level.  At the end of the year, students in AP courses will be encouraged to take the AP exam, which could earn you college credit.  Research shows that 1).  AP students are more likely to graduate from college in four years - students who take longer to graduate at public colleges and universities can spend up to $19,000 for each additional year.  2).  AP helps students qualify for scholarships - 31 percent of colleges and universities look at AP experience when determining scholarships. To find out more out AP, please see our Curriculum Guide, or visit

Credit Flexibility
The Credit Flexibility Policy allows students to earn high school credit in three ways: completion of traditional coursework; showing mastery of content; or pursuing educational options such as independent study, service learning, or engagement projects. Credit Flexibility options are designed for students who demonstrate high academic ability, interest, and maturity. Students must initiate a request to take a credit flex course and fill out a credit application. More information and applications can be found in Mrs. Rogge's office.
