News from the Elementary
Finally, warmer weather has returned and allowed our students to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. As a reminder, the elementary dress code only permits the students to wear shorts during the months of April and May in the spring, at the parents’ discretion. Also, flip-flops, sandals, and other open-toed shoes are not to be worn in the elementary. The weather can change drastically throughout the course of the day, so please plan clothing choices accordingly.
Once again, I would remind those that pick students up after school to not park and leave your vehicle in the circle drive. This creates a bottleneck, which causes cars to drive around other vehicles, making a dangerous situation for our students. In addition, if your child is walking to the parking lot by themselves, you need to meet them at the sidewalk so that they are not walking among the cars alone. Due to some close calls, please follow the directives of those assigned to manage after-school pick-up.
We recently completed the 1st round of state testing for grades 3-5. I would like to thank our students and staff for a job well done. It was apparent that the staff has done a good job in preparing the students for these new types of assessments. The end of the year round of testing will be held the weeks of April 27 – May 8 for grades 3-5. Please make every effort to have your students here during this timeframe, so they can test during the normal schedule and procedure. You can help your students prepare for these tests at home by accessing practice tests from the Ohio Department of Education website.
The Spring Arts Festival will be held on April 11. There will be musical presentations, displays, and concessions. Please come out and show your support for the artists and musicians of our school.
The local Battle of the Books will be held at the school on April 21 at 1:00 pm. The winning team will then be competing at the county competition on April 30 at 12:30pm at the Youth Leadership Building.
