Elementary School News
As we begin the new 2013-2014 school year, there have been many changes implemented and some still on the horizon. One of the most apparent changes was the change from two bus routes to one. This then allowed the elementary to be on the same school schedule as the MS/HS. We have seen that this change has been very beneficial to the entire school district. I thank you for helping to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Another change has been the use of an A-F school report card instead of the labeling rating system (excellent, effective, etc.) that was used in the past. Instead of receiving one rating based mostly upon the spring OAA and OGT tests, we will now be receiving an A-F rating based upon six components that will be phased in over the next couple of years. These six components are achievement, progress, gap closing, graduation rate, K-3 literacy, and prepared for success. More information about these components can be found at the Ohio Department of Education report card website. We, as a district, will continue to strive for providing the best education possible for the students that attend our school. We will work as hard as possible in the elementary to earn high marks on the new report card Please feel free to contact the school and discuss the new report card if you have questions or concerns.
As in the past, we will try to keep you as informed as possible about your student’s education. We know that parent support is an important aspect of a student’s success, not only in the school setting but also in his or her daily life. Therefore, we try to utilize as many forms of communication as we can. We encourage you to frequently monitor your student’s progress using Progressbook. In addition, feel free to contact your student’s teachers using email or by calling the school.
We look forward to another year of educational excellence at Antwerp Elementary, and thank you for your support and commitment to your student(s) and the teachers that educate them. We value your support and welcome your involvement.
